India Squad Champions Trophy 2025: India and Pakistan are the only teams that have not announced their squad for Champions Trophy 2025. BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla had said that Team India will be announced on January 18 or 19. Champions Trophy matches will be played in ODI format. If we are talking about 50-over format, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma keep setting new records. Rohit-Virat’s place in the Champions Trophy squad seems almost certain, but now Devdutt Padikkal, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL, has also joined the race.
Devdutt Padikkal is wreaking havoc in Vijay Hazare Trophy these days. He scored a century (102 runs) in the match against Baroda and then played a brilliant inning of 86 runs in the match against Haryana. He is only 24 years old, but his figures in his List-A career fail even the greats like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He has played 32 matches so far in List-A (50-over format), in which his score of runs has crossed 2,000.
Devdutt Padikkal is also in the news because he has scored more than 2 thousand runs at an incredible average of 82.52. Padikkal has 9 centuries and 12 fifties in his name in these 32 List-A matches. This means he is scoring fifty or more runs in almost 7 out of every 10 innings. Due to such excellent form, he has staked his claim for a place in the Indian team for the Champions Trophy. He is also special because his strike rate is also above 90, yet scoring runs at an average of more than 80 is no less than a miracle.
Australia’s great all-rounder Michael Bevan used to have the highest average in List-A cricket. He had scored runs at an average of 57.86, but Devdutt Padikkal has gone far ahead of him as he is scoring runs at an average of more than 82.
