The Pawar-led party has won only 10 seats in the 288-member assembly.

Sharad Pawar, on the question regarding SP leader Abu Azmi’s announcement of leaving MVA, said that the central leadership of Samajwadi Party (SP) is firm on opposition unity.

SP’s Maharashtra unit president Azmi on Friday announced that his party was parting ways with the MVA due to Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (Ubatha) saying the Thackeray aide praised those who demolished the Babri Masjid in December 1992.

On the question of appointment of Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly, Pawar said that MVA constituents cannot insist that he get this post as they do not have the required numbers.
