Karnataka Muslim Quota Issue: Senior Congress leader and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka DK Shivkumar on Monday denied any statement of himself regarding changing the constitution to arrange for four percent reservation for Muslims in the state and claimed that their point was incorrectly presented. He also warned to bring a proposal for breach of privilege.
Shivkumar told reporters here, “I am a sensitive senior leader … I have been in the assembly for the last 36 years. I have a basic understanding. I never said (about changing the constitution). “The Deputy Chief Minister said,” I said in a normal manner that there will be a lot of changes after various decisions. Whatever reservation has been given is according to reservation for backward classes. I never said that we will change the constitution and do such things. “State Congress chief Shivkumar said,” Whatever they are quoting, it is wrong. They are quoting my point wrongly. I am clearly saying this. I will bring a proposal for a privilege breach of privilege on this. I will fight this matter. They are quoting my point wrongly. ”
This reaction of Shivkumar came in view of his alleged remarks in view of the BJP’s proceedings being disrupted due to BJP’s opposition. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that it is unacceptable to make a comment in the constitution by a person sitting in constitutional post to give four percent reservation to Muslims. Rijiju said, “How can the House see it quietly?” Congress should clarify … that person should be dismissed. You claim to give reservation to Muslims and pretend to keep Babasaheb Ambedkar’s picture and a copy of the Constitution. ”
