Russia’s missile power is an important part of its military power. Missiles like RS-28 Sarmat, Iskander, RS-24 Yars, Onyx anti-ship cruise, and RSM-56 Bulava have established Russia as a powerful country at the global level. The unique capabilities of these missiles strengthen Russia’s security and global strategic position.
RS-28 Sarmat is considered to be the most powerful nuclear missile in the world. Its range is 18,000 kilometers, which makes it capable of engaging targets in any part of the world. This missile has 10 to 15 warheads, which can attack different targets simultaneously, giving it an unprecedented destructive power.
The Iskander missile system includes short range ballistic missiles, which can carry 480 to 700 kg warheads. This missile is capable of carrying both nuclear and non-nuclear warheads, making it effective in any type of war.
RS-24 Yars is an intercontinental ballistic missile, which has a range of 10,000 kilometers. This missile is capable of completely destroying a small city, and is the mainstay of Russia’s land-based strategic missile forces.
Onyx anti-ship cruise missile, known as BrahMos in India, comes with a 300 kg warhead. This missile is effective in destroying enemy armored ships, making it a dangerous weapon for maritime warfare.
The RSM-56 Bulava is a level 3 solid fuel missile with a range of 9,300 km. It is capable of carrying 6 to 10 nuclear-capable Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicles (MIRVs), and has an explosive yield of between 100–150 kilotons.
