Marco Rubio: India will get preference in the new Trump government of America, this became clear the very next day after Donald Trump took oath as President. Trump took oath as the President of America for the second time on Monday (January 20) and the very next day i.e. Tuesday (January 21), India was given priority in his foreign policy. Marco Rubio, the new Foreign Minister of the Trump government, participated in the Quad meeting on the very first day of his tenure and then he also held his first bilateral conversation with Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.
Quad is an organization of four countries. This includes India, Australia, Japan and America. These four countries have been promoting mutual cooperation through this organization. Besides, this is the group which has been challenging China’s every move. This initiative was taken in the first term of Donald Trump and now in his second term also, Trump has expressed his attitude through the meeting of this group.
A meeting of the foreign ministers of the four countries was held on Tuesday. Marco Rubio’s choice of Quad as the first meeting after assuming office is like giving a strong symbolic message to China. Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said that various dimensions of ensuring free, open, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific region were discussed in the meeting. It was also agreed to intensify mutual cooperation.
