- UPI Down, Outage Disrupts Nationwide Payments on Google Pay, Paytm and Other

On Monday (May 12) across the country, the Unified Payments Interface, the UPI service, went down due to the technical issue. Due to this outage, users are facing difficulties in payment from digital payment platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm.
According to the platform down detector, who described the real time status of the website and online services, the problem started coming from around 5 pm. At the same time, at 7 pm, maximum 913 complaints were filed.
The most troublesome from 5 pm to 8 pm
This is the screen shot of the down detector, on which the data show is doing that the graph of complaints was high from 5 pm to 8 pm.
About 31% people difficult to pay
About 31% of the people who were facing the problem faced a problem in paying. 47% of people had difficulties in transferring funds and purchasing about 21%. Many users are also complaining about UPI service down on social media platforms.
Energy messages are visible on payment from Paytm, ‘UPI app is facing some problems’. This is the third time in the last one month, when the UPI service has been down.
NCPI operates UPI
RTGS and NEFT payment system operations in India are with RBI. The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) operates systems like IMPS, Rupay, UPI. The government had a zero-charge framework mandator for UPI transactions from 1 January 2020.
How upi works
For UPI service, you have to prepare a virtual payment address. After this it has to link to the bank account. After this, there is no need to remember your bank account number, bank name or IFSC code etc. The payment bus processes the payment request according to your mobile number.
If you have its UPI ID (e-mail ID, mobile number or Aadhaar number), then you can easily send money through your smartphone. You can make not only money but also utility bill payment, online shopping and shopping with unified payment interface system.
