On the occasion of New Year on Wednesday, hundreds of protesters gathered in Times Square in New York, USA, demanding the start of a third intifada against Israel. These people waved anti-Israel placards along with the Palestinian flag. It was written on them – Zionism is cancer, no war against Iran and stop all American aid to Israel.
The demonstration was organized by the Palestinian Youth Movement, the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the People’s Forum. According to a report by the New York Post, protesters chanted slogans – The only solution is the intifada, the protest is great – we will win, and we are proud of Gaza.
In a video viral on social media, a female protester taunted the white people and said – We are sending you back to Europe. Go back to Europe, go back to Europe. A demonstrator shouted on a megaphone that the year 2024 is the year of struggle against the crimes of Zionism.
Zionism is a religious and political movement. It supports the reestablishment of the Jewish State in the historical territory of Israel.

Know the meaning of intifada
Intifada is an Arabic word. This is called ‘shake off’ in English. The rebellion against Israel and the vigorous attack on it are called Intifada by the people of Palestine. An attack that will completely shake Israel. The use of this word increased rapidly in Palestine in 1987. This was the time when people were protesting strongly against Israeli soldiers in the West Bank and Gaza.
Palestinian-American professor Edward Said defined the term intifada in 1989. He had said that this is a kind of retaliatory action of Palestinians against Israel to save their land, country and history.
Protest against Israel in Turkey’s Istanbul too
On the occasion of New Year, a large protest against Israel was also organized in Istanbul, Turkey. A large number of people gathered on Galata Bridge in Istanbul and raised slogans of Free Palestine. It was organized by the National Will Platform.
Bilal Erdogan, son of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, criticized the Israeli attack on Gaza during this period. Referring to the recent overthrow of Bashar al-Assad in Syria, he said – Syrian Muslims are strong-willed and patient. Because of this he won. After Syria, now Gaza will also be free from siege.
