Vijay Hazare Trophy: Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh’s 5 wickets and opener Prabhsimran Singh’s unbeaten 150-run innings helped Punjab defeat Mumbai by 8 wickets in the Vijay Hazare Trophy Group C match in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Prabhasimran scored 150 runs in just 101 balls, hitting 14 fours and 10 sixes. He along with Abhishek Sharma (66 runs, 4 fours, 5 sixes) made a partnership of 150 runs in 21.5 overs for the first wicket, due to which Punjab achieved the target of 249 runs in just 29 overs.
Mumbai did not fare well in front of Arshdeep
Earlier, the Mumbai team was seen struggling against Arshdeep (five wickets for 38 runs), due to which the team was reduced to 248 runs in 48.5 overs. At one time the Mumbai team was struggling after losing five wickets for 28 runs, after which the score became 112 runs for seven wickets, but in the end with the help of Arthav Ankolekar (66 runs) and Shardul Thakur (43 runs), Mumbai was able to reach a respectable score. I succeeded. This is Mumbai’s second defeat in the group, before which it had to face defeat against Karnataka in the high-scoring opening match of the tournament last week.
Karnataka defeated Arunachal
On the other hand, Karnataka confirmed its top position in Group C with a 10-wicket win over Arunachal Pradesh, thanks to captain Mayank Agarwal’s second century in the second match. Fast bowler Vasuki Kaushik and left-arm spinner Hardik Raj took four wickets each as Karnataka bowled out Arunachal Pradesh for 166 runs. Karnataka again achieved this target in just 14.2 overs in which apart from Agarwal’s unbeaten 100 runs (45 balls, seven fours, seven sixes), Abhinav Manohar contributed 66 runs (41 balls, four fours, four sixes).
Baroda lost due to Hardik’s flop
Whereas in the Group E match, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya failed, due to which Baroda had to face defeat by Bengal by 7 wickets. Pandya could score only 1 run, due to which Baroda scored 228 runs. Bengal achieved this target in 43 overs by losing just three wickets with the help of Anushtup Majumdar’s unbeaten 99 runs.
Delhi defeated Kerala
Former Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma (3 wickets for 48 runs) gave a dazzling performance in Delhi’s win over Kerala in Hyderabad. In this Group E match, Delhi scored 258 runs for five wickets and restricted Kerala to 229 runs and won by 29 runs.
