Jasprit Bumrah has completed a special ‘double century’ in his Test career. Yes, he now has 200 test wickets in his name. He became the joint second fastest Indian bowler along with Ravindra Jadeja to reach this milestone. However, apart from this achievement, Bumrah made another big record and changed the history of Test cricket which has been going on for 148 years.
World record in Bumrah’s name
There was a time when batsmen all over the world were in awe of the three West Indies bowlers Malcolm Marshall, Joel Garner and Curtly Ambrose. Who knew that a day would come when an Indian bowler would write a new history by breaking the records of these three great bowlers. Yes, Bumrah has done this impossible feat. He has now become the king of Test cricket. He has done such work that even coming close to it would be a dream for any young Indian bowler.
This is the first time in the 148-year history of Test cricket that a bowler has taken 200 wickets with an average of less than 20. Jasprit Bumrah has become the first bowler in the world to do so. Former West Indies fast bowler Malcolm Marshall is at second place in this list, who took 376 wickets in Test cricket with an average of 20.97. At number three is Joel Garner who took 259 wickets at an average of 20.97.

This year, when the Indian team returned home after becoming the T20 World Cup champion, they were given a grand welcome at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It seemed as if the whole of Mumbai had descended on Marine Drive. Then Virat Kohli had said in praise of Bumrah that ‘Bumrah is the 8th wonder of this world. Let us tell you that Bumrah had an important contribution in winning the T20 World Cup and he was the Indian bowler who took the most wickets in the tournament.
