Asaduddin Owaisi on Waqf Bill: In the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Union Minister Kiren Reijizu introduced the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. The bill proposes to make extensive changes on the 1995 Waqf Acts. While the Central Government appears committed to pass this bill in the Lok Sabha, the opposition has rejected this bill as unconstitutional. The opposition is against this bill and the opposition leaders are constantly seen opposing this bill in the Lok Sabha. Meanwhile, Asaduddin Owaisi, MP from Hyderabad and chief of AMIM, has also given his opinion on this bill. Asaduddin Owaisi has fiercely raised the Modi government against the Waqf Amendment Bill. Owaisi has described this bill as a direct attack on social, economic and religious rights of Muslims. Owaisi has described this bill as a direct violation of Articles 14, 25 and 26 of the Constitution.
Owaisi said that this bill is being brought only to the Muslims. The BJP is plotting to end the religious and social institutions of Muslims with the help of this bill. Continuing attacking the government’s bill, Owaisi further said, “The religious properties of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and Jain communities are protected, but the government wants to seize the assets of Muslim Waqf through this bill.” Owaisi alleged that the government is weakening Muslim Waqf properties to prevent the economic, educational progress of Muslims. Owaisi said that in the 2007 Sachar Committee report, it was told that the market price of 123 Waqf properties in Delhi was Rs 6000 crore, but now the government is making new laws to grab these assets.
This bill violates the rights of minorities: Owaisi
Asaduddin Owaisi has told the government to deprive Muslims of their religious rights behind the introduction of this bill. Owaisi, citing Article 25 (Right to Religious Freedom) and Article 26 (right to conduct religious institutions), said that this bill is plotting to deprive Muslims of administrative rights on their religious institutions. Owaisi said that the implementation of this bill will give legal recognition to the occupation of Waqf properties. Owaisi gave an example after the implementation of this bill, saying that if a person occupies the Waqf property, the government will implement the Limitation Act on it, which would make the encroachment overnight the legal owner of the property. Owaisi called it against justice and said that this bill has been designed to benefit the encroachers.
Owaisi’s announcement to tear the bill
Owaisi, while referring to Mahatma Gandhi at the end of his address during this period, gave the same example against the racist law of South Africa, giving the same example, Owaisi said that I too reject this bill. Owaisi said that this bill is unconstitutional and I am registering protest by tearing it in Parliament. Saying this, Owaisi pulled out a copy of the Waqf Bill by pulling it out. Owaisi accused the BJP government that it wanted to provoke struggle in the name of temple-mosque in the country by religious polarization. Owaisi presented its 10 amendments in Parliament during this period and demanded that the government also consider these points.
