In the 19th over, Mitchell Santner was sent to his place. This decision was surprised not only MI fans but also Suryakumar Yadav, who was in the team.
Chasing a target of 204 runs, the wickets of both openers (Will Jacks, Ryan Ricelton) fell for 17 runs. After this, Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir shared a 69 -run partnership. Naman was dismissed for 46 runs in 24 balls. Tilak Verma, who came after this, added 66 runs with Suryakumar Yadav but no big shots came from Verma’s bat. If 52 runs were needed in 24 balls, then Mumbai could win the match from here, but the pressure of Surya’s wicket fell on Mumbai on the first ball of the 17th over. Tilak Verma was retired out of the fifth ball of the 19th over and called out by Mumbai Indians. This decision was of coach Jayawardene, which he himself told after the match. In the viral video, it can be seen that Jayawardene is going to Suryakumar Yadav and telling about it, then Suryakumar Yadav is also shocked. He is quite surprised and then bends the head down in desperate. Actually Tilak Verma was struggling in batting, he played 23 balls to score 25 runs.

Jayawardene said after the match, “Tilak wanted to score just, but he could not do it. We waited for the last few overs. He had spent some time on the field, so he should have succeeded in hitting big hits on those balls. I felt that in the end the new batsmen should come to play, he (Tilak Verma) was struggling.
