
India-Myanmar Relation: Those 283 Indian citizens trapped in Myanmar have been rescued and brought back to India who were forced to commit cyber crime by luring attractive jobs. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that the Indian embassies in Myanmar and Thailand have coordinated with local authorities and ensured a safe return of Indian citizens through the Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft from Mai Sot in Thailand on Monday.
The ministry said that India is constantly making efforts to release its citizens and return home to various South-East Asian countries, including Myanama, by fake offering attractive jobs.
He said, “These people were later forced to participate in cyber crime and other activities of cheating in scam centers operated in areas bordering Myanmar-Thailand.”
6 and Indian citizens, trapped in scam complexes in Mavaddi, reached the local police station on Monday to be sent back to India. Since July 2024, 101 Indians have been sent back to India. The Indian Embassy in Myanmar said on X that we reiterate our advice against the job offering in the area without consulting the mission.
China’s concern over the incident of telecom cheating in Thailand-Myanmar Frontier region
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lynn Chyen said on Friday that President Xi Chinfing, Prime Minister Li Chhyang and NPC President Chao Lachi separately held talks with Thai Prime Minister Petonegate Shinavatra, including an issue to attack internet gambling and telecom fraud.
The spokesperson said that the serious internet gambling and telecom deception incidents in the Thailand-Myanmar marginal region have been damaged by the security of citizens of the respective countries including China and Thailand and affected the general movement and cooperation of the countries of the region. Internet gambling and telecom cheating are ending by active bilateral and multilateral cooperation with countries like China, Thailand, Myanmar etc.
