
On Monday, one person was killed and several others were injured in a conflict between local people and a group of air force personnel in the South-Eastern Coastal city of Cox Bazaar. The officers provided this information.
Army’s Media Unit- Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the miscreants had attacked the Bangladesh Air Force base near Samitipara of Cox Bazar. A statement by ISPR said, “Bangladesh Air Force is taking necessary action in this regard.”
The ISPR said that some local miscreants in the Samitipara area adjacent to the sea coastal city suddenly attacked the airbase when a bike rider was stopped at the check post which was crossing the area without vehicle papers.
He said that when the bike rider was taken inside the center for questioning, more than 200 people attacked inside the center. Security forces tried to stop them, after which four Air Force personnel were injured in the struggle.
District Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin said, “One person died and many others were injured in the incident.” The official said that detailed investigation could be done to find out the cause of the attack. He said, “30 -year -old local businessman Shihab Kabir was shot during the clash.”
After the incident, there was a dispute on social media where people claimed that the youth died in the shootout of the Air Force personnel. At the same time, the Defense Ministry of Bangladesh said in a statement that the soldiers did not fire during the violence.
ISPR said that Air Force personnel fired in the air to save their center and did not shoot at the people. He said, “The Bangladesh Air Force has expressed deep grief over the death of the young man and expressed condolences to his family members.”
According to a local journalist, there is a plan to expand the airport of the government and rehabilitate the people living nearby, which was opposed by some local people.
The attack took place a few hours after the government’s advisor, retired Lieutenant General M. Jahangir Alam Chaudhary repeated the government’s commitment to maintain law and order at a press conference in the morning.
He told the media at his residence in Dhaka at around 3 pm on Monday that the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s preceding Awami League government wants to destabilize the country, but ‘she will not be spared in any way’. He said, “We will ensure that terrorists do not stand anywhere and crimes can be stopped at any cost.” He said that law enforcement agencies have been asked to strengthen their patrols across the country. .
Bangladesh security forces have arrested more than 8,600 people in a two -week action called “Operation Devil Hunt”, allegedly targeted gangs associated with the Hasina government.
Chaudhary told reporters, “Operation Devil Hunt will continue and we will not allow criminals to sleep or rest. I have ordered security forces to increase patrolling. ”
