KKR Captain IPL 2025 Ajikya Rahane: Three Indian players attracted the most discussion in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Rishabh Pant was bought by LSG for Rs 27 crore, while Punjab Kings bought him for Rs 26.75 crore. No one thought that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) would spend Rs 23.75 crore on Venkatesh Iyer. Now the question is whether KKR will make its most expensive player Venkatesh Iyer the captain? But recently, Ajinkya Rahane’s name is being taken forward in the race for captaincy, but it has not been officially confirmed yet.
Will Ajinkya Rahane not be the captain?
Ajinkya Rahane has captained Mumbai and even the Indian team at the domestic level. But it was his strike in T20, due to which he was not even bid on in the first round of the auction. Ultimately, in the second round, Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for the base price of Rs 1.50 crore. In such a situation, the question arises whether it would be right to make Rahane the captain despite his poor strike rate. The second name comes from Rinku Singh, who has commanded his team in many domestic cricket tournaments. But the question before KKR management will be whether Rinku is ready for the responsibility of captaincy.
Venkatesh Iyer’s form is amazing
Venkatesh Iyer can be a good choice for captaincy and his stellar performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy can impress the KKR management. So far, Iyer has scored 210 runs after playing 8 matches in this tournament. Since he has batted at the fifth and sixth positions, his number of runs is not high but his strike rate of 161.53 is wreaking havoc on the opposition teams. Since he is playing the role of a finisher for Madhya Pradesh, an average of 70 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy can get him the captaincy of KKR in IPL 2025.
