Why did Nitin Gadkari say – When I go abroad, I hide my face; Know the reason

Nitin Gadkari in Lok Sabha: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has revealed that he tries to hide his face whenever he goes abroad. Nitin Gadkari said this in the context of increasing road accidents in India. Nitin Gadkari admitted in the Lok Sabha that road accidents have increased instead of decreasing.

Nitin Gadkari was answering questions in the Lok Sabha on Thursday regarding the statistics of road accident deaths and road safety. Meanwhile, Union Road and Transport Minister Gadkari said, ‘When I go to participate in international conferences, where road accidents are discussed, I try to hide my face.’

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stressed that when he first took charge as the Road Transport and Highways Minister, he had set a target of reducing accidents by 50 per cent. During a discussion on road accidents in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, Gadkari said, ‘Forget about reducing the number of accidents, I have no hesitation in accepting that it has increased. When I go to attend international conferences where road accidents are discussed, I try to hide my face. He was answering a supplementary question during Question Hour.

There has to be a change in human behavior- Gadkari

Gadkari said that to improve things in India, there has to be a change in human behaviour, there has to be a change in the society and the rule of law has to be respected. Gadkari said that a few years ago he and his family met with a major accident and he had to be hospitalized for a long time. He said, ‘By the grace of God, I and my family were saved. So I have personal experience of accidents.

‘Every year 1.78 lakh people die in road accidents’

He said parking of trucks on the road is a major cause of accidents and many trucks do not follow lane discipline. He said that he has ordered to follow international standards in making bus bodies in India. He said that there should be a hammer near the window of the bus so that it can be easily broken in case of an accident. Earlier, Gadkari said that every year 1.78 lakh people die in road accidents in the country and 60 percent of the victims are in the age group of 18-34 years. He said that Uttar Pradesh is at the forefront among the states, while Delhi is at the top among the cities.
