One billion, 16 crore, 17 lakh, 80 thousand… The population of Muslims around the world is estimated to increase by this much and it will not take 200-300 years, but it is estimated to happen within a few decades. Pew Research Center has prepared a report on the fastest growing religion, which includes many religions including Christianity, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhism. In this, the change in the population of these communities between 2010 and 2050 has been estimated.
The report says that in just 40 years between 2010 and 2050, there will be a difference of 1,161,780,000 in the population of Muslims. Currently Islam is the second largest community in the world and its total population in 2010 was 1,599,700,000, which will increase to more than two billion by 2050. According to the report, after 26 years there will be 2,761,480,000 Muslims worldwide. Talking about Christians, at present the biggest religion is Christianity, there are a total of 2,168,330,000 Christians around the world i.e. 31.4 percent of the total world population are Christians.
What will be the population of Christians by 2050?
By 2050, the population of Christians is estimated to increase by about 80 crores, that is, the increase in Christian population is estimated to be less than that of Muslims. According to the report, by 2050 the Christian population will reach 2,918,070,000. From 2010 to 2050, there will be a total difference of 74,97,40,000 in the population of Christians. If we look at these figures, the fastest growing religion in the coming times is Islam.
For what reasons are Muslims increasing rapidly?
The report said that factors like young population and high fertility rate are behind the increase in the population of Muslims. The fertility rate of Muslims is highest compared to other religions. The fertility rate per woman in this religion is 3.1, while in Christianity it is 2.7. The report said that in developing countries, the fertility rate is high, while the death rate is low, due to which the Muslim and Christian population in areas like Sub-Saharan Africa is expected to increase by 12 percent by 2050.
Pew Research reported that in 2010, 34 percent of the world’s Muslim population was under the age of 15, 60 percent was between 15 and 59 years of age, and only 7 percent was 60 or older. Most Muslims live in Africa and the Middle East, where the global population growth rate is expected to be the highest.
