Wpl 2025: Mumbai Indians will start as a strong contender for victory against Delhi Capitals committed to end the title drought in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) on Saturday on the basis of the all -round game of NAT Cyver Brant and Haley Mathews.
Cyver Brant (493 runs, nine wickets) and Mathews (17 wickets and 304 runs) are currently at the top of the batting and bowling table respectively. If both of them continue their excellent performance, then it will not be easy for the Delhi team to be the first champion for the Delhi team.
Meg Lanning, who retired from international cricket, is one of the most successful captains of women’s cricket. He and his team will leave no stone unturned to win the first WPL title. Delhi’s men’s team has also failed to win the IPL so far. The Delhi team entered the finals directly on the basis of better net run rate, while the Mumbai team defeated Gujarat joints in the eliminator to make it to the title match.
The Mumbai team is well acquainted with the circumstances of the Brabourne Stadium and will try to take advantage of it. Mumbai’s batting is quite strong and Delhi bowlers will have to perform their best to overcome them. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s return to form is also a good sign for Mumbai. For Delhi, spinner Jess Jonasan and India’s experienced fast bowler Shikha Pandey have done well. Both of them have taken 11–11 wickets. With the brilliant performance of Jonasan and Shikha, Delhi stopped the Mumbai team for nine wickets in their final match of Round Robin for 123 runs. Mumbai batsmen will have to be cautious with these two.
Cyver Brant and Mathews have also performed well in bowling so far but the Mumbai attack has a strong tight all -rounder Amelia Kerr who has taken 16 wickets so far. The role of this leg spinner will be important in favorable batting conditions. Off -spinner Sanskriti Gupta for Mumbai has also done well so far. Even though he has taken only four wickets so far, his economy rate is less than seven.
In batting for Delhi, Batting will be important in the power play of Shefali Verma (300 runs). Apart from him, Lanning has also batted well for Delhi. He has scored 263 runs so far. Young batsman Nikki Prasad has also performed well on getting a chance.
