Yemen Houthis claim attacking Israeli airbase: Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed to have shot down an American MQ-9 drone over central Yemen on Wednesday. This is the second MQ-9 drone downed by Houthi within 72 hours.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sariya said the drone was carrying out a mission over Marib province when it was destroyed by a locally made surface-to-air missile. This is the 14th drone downed by Houthi since November 2023.
Al-Maseera TV said that footage of the downing of the drone will be broadcast soon. However, the US Army has not given any official response to this claim. The Houthi group has claimed such attacks in the past as well.
The Houthi group has been active in rocket and drone attacks against Israel since November 2023 and has been disrupting “Israeli-linked” shipping in the Red Sea in solidarity with Palestinians during the conflict with Israel in Gaza. In response, the US-led naval coalition has launched several airstrikes against the Houthis, and continues to attack Houthi targets. Let us tell you that the Houthi group has control over Yemen.
On Tuesday, US Central Command released a statement on social media platform This included attacks on Houthi command and control facilities, advanced conventional weapons (ACW) production and storage facilities. US Navy and Air Force aircraft destroyed a Houthi coastal radar site and seven cruise missiles and one-sided attack UAV over the Red Sea.
