Taiwan has thanked India on Wednesday (June 11, 2025) for saving members of 18 crew members of Singapore’s cargo ship Wan High 503. Recently, there was a fire in a cargo ship, about 70 knots from Kerala coast.

Out of 22 people on the ship, 18 crew members were rescued after jumping into the sea, while four other members associated with the ship’s fire and security department are being detected.

Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India said that the members of the missing four crew include two Taiwanese, one Indonesia and one Myanmar citizens.

Taipei Economic and Cultural Center posted on social media platform X and wrote, "The Taiwan Sarkar is grateful for the quick rescue action taken by the Indian Navy and Coast Guard for Wan High 503. We wish the missing crew members safe return and the injured to recover early."

Earlier on Tuesday, on Tuesday, Chinese Embassy spokesman U Jing expressed gratitude for India’s quick rescue operations, saying that 14 of the 22 crew members are Chinese, including two people from Taiwan.

On the other hand, Taiwan rejected China’s claim as false and absurd. He insisted that only Taiwan’s democratically elected government can represent its people, not the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India said on Wednesday, "The claim of the Chinese Embassy is false and absurd. We reiterate that Taiwan and China are not subject to each other and the CCP regime never ruled Taiwan. Only Taiwan’s democratically elected government has the right to represent its people."

Let us know that this ship with 270 meters long and 12.5 meters diameter left from Colombo on June 7 and moved towards Mumbai.

On Monday, the Indian Navy, along with the Indian Coast Guard, DG Shipping and others, saved 18 out of 22 crew members in a coordinated discovery and rescue (SAR) campaign.

According to the Indian Navy spokesperson, an internal container exploded in the ship, resulting in a fierce fire in the ship.

On Monday, Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) also appreciated the quick response of Indian officials for saving 18 crew members and supporting the ongoing SAR operations.
