KL Rahul Play India vs England Series: Champions Trophy 2025 is coming closer, but before that the Indian cricket team will have to overcome the challenge of England in the T20 and ODI series. Some time ago there was speculation that some senior players might be rested from the England series in view of the Champions Trophy. The name of KL Rahul was also included in these, about whom it was said that his place in the Champions Trophy squad is confirmed, but he can be rested from the England series. Now it seems as if the team management has changed its decision.
According to TOI, BCCI has asked KL Rahul to play against England in the three-match ODI series starting from February 6. Rahul had played all 5 matches against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and after that one and a half month long series, it was expected that Rahul would get rest. He has even decided not to play in Karnataka’s knockout match in Vijay Hazare Trophy. But now it feels as if his return is going to happen very soon.
This ODI series against England will be acting as a warm-up series for the Champions Trophy 2025. Rahul has been a regular part of India’s ODI team. Last year, only 31 runs were scored with his bat in 2 matches against Sri Lanka. In the 2023 World Cup, Rahul had scored 452 runs at an average of more than 75. Now Team India will expect the same kind of performance from Rahul.
Rahul has so far scored 2,851 runs in his career of 77 ODI matches. 7 centuries and 18 half-centuries have come from his bat. His average in ODI cricket is more than 49, which can prove him to be a trump card for Team India not only in the series against England but also in the Champions Trophy.
