After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, several international airlines have refused to use Pakistani air space in view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan.
According to airlines’ statements and flight tracker data, major airline companies escaping from Pakistan’s aircrafts include Air France, British Airways, Swiss International Airlines, UAE’s Emirates, ITA of Italy, LOT of Poland and Lufthansa of Germany.
Airlines companies are deciding to make changes in their air routes after reports of using nuclear weapons between the two countries.
Indo-Pak banned each other’s airlines
On March 22, 4 terrorists fired on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people. The Pakistan -backed terrorist group took responsibility for this attack.
In response to the attack, India has shut down its airspace for Pakistani Airlines. Pakistan has also banned Indian -owned or operated aircraft from its airspace.
Indian Airlines companies are suffering losses due to ban on flying on top of Pakistan. The flight is also taking longer to reach Arab and other countries. At the same time, many major Western Airlines are not using the Pakistani airspace voluntarily. However, they are not facing such restrictions.
Which airlines are escaping from Pak airspace
Flight -radar-24 flight tracking data has shown that Lufthansa flight LH760 flew over an hour more on Sunday for Frankfurt to New Delhi. Because it had to go a long way to reach its destination.
- In a statement to the news agency Reuters, the airline said that the Lufthansa Group is escaping from Pakistani aircraft until the next update. The airline said that it is monitoring the developments in the region and will update its route according to it.
- Citing a recent stress between India and Pakistan, Air France said in a statement that it has decided to suspend flights over Pakistan until the next update. The airline said it is making changes in its flight schedules and plans with destinations like Delhi, Bangkok and Ho-Chi-Minh, which will increase the flight time.
- Flight tracking data has shown that British Airways, Swiss International Air Lines and some flights of Emirates were also turning to Delhi in the north to avoid Pakistani aircraft after passing through the Arabian Sea.
- Until now British Airways, Swiss International Air Lines and Emirates have not released any official statement. But the change in the route of their flights reflects the caution of the industry despite a long distance and higher fuel cost for the airlines.
What will be affected on Pakistan?
Changes in flight route will reduce Pakistan’s overflight fees, which can be up to hundreds of dollars per flight depending on the weight and distance of the aircraft.
According to the Reuters report, the central bank has a $ 10.2 billion reserve of Pakistan, which is barely sufficient to cover two months of imports.
