Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday (January 11) that more than 22 million children in the country are not going to school. He also stressed the urgent need for Muslim countries to focus on girls’ education.
Speaking at the inauguration of the two-day ‘International Conference on Girls’ Education in Muslim Communities: Challenges and Opportunities’ in Islamabad, Sharif said that girls in the Muslim society face difficulties in getting education, Dawn reported.

During this, PM Shahbaz said, “Lakhs of young girls are ready to contribute in many sectors in the coming times. Depriving girls of education is tantamount to denying their voice and choice. They are also deprived of the right to a bright future. Girls can lift their families out of poverty and contribute to the global economy.”
Malala Yousafzai is also taking part
Many international representatives from Muslim majority countries including Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai are participating in this conference. Malala expressed her eagerness on social media to join the global leaders at the conference. During this, she wrote on social media, “She will address the importance of protecting girls’ rights to education and will hold the Taliban accountable for their treatment of Afghan women and girls.”
She added, “I’m excited to join Muslim leaders around the world for an important conference on girls’ education. On Sunday I will talk about protecting the rights of all girls to go to school. And the Taliban must be held accountable for their crimes against girls.”
