
Indian Player Retirement After BGT: The Indian team lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 with defeat in the first Test of 2025 played in Sydney. Now after the defeat in this series, Team India’s all-rounder Rishi Dhawan announced his retirement. He announced his retirement through social media on Sunday (05 January).
However, the thing to note is that he announced his retirement only from limited overs cricket. Rishi, who plays domestic cricket for Himachal Pradesh, made it clear in his post that he is retiring only from limited overs cricket. This means he can be seen playing Ranji Trophy. Let us tell you that Rishi played white ball cricket for India. He made his international debut in 2016 and in the same year he was dropped from the team and could never make it again.
Posting his retirement via social media, Rishi wrote, “With a heavy heart, although I have no regrets, I would like to announce my retirement from Indian cricket (limited overs). It is a game that has seen a lot of success in recent times. This game has defined my life for 20 years and has given me immense joy and countless memories that will always remain very close to my heart.”
He further expressed his gratitude for the opportunities he got and wrote, “I am grateful for the opportunities given to me by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA), Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. “Want to take a moment to express.”
Played white ball cricket for India
Rishi played 3 ODIs and 1 T20 International for Team India. In ODI he scored 12 runs and took 1 wicket. Apart from this, in T20 International he scored 1 run and took 1 wicket. Rishi made his international debut in January 2016 and played the last match of his international career in June 2016.
