On 13 February 2024, 1 year ago, the government launched the scheme with a budget of Rs 75,021 crore. Under this, 1 crore houses are to be given 300-300 units of free electricity.
In this scheme, one crore families who install roof top solar panels also have an annual income of Rs 15,000. More than 1 crore people have applied for this scheme.

How much will it cost to set up a solar plant?
In this scheme, 60% of the cost of solar plant up to 2 kW for every family will come in the account as subsidy. On the other hand, if someone wants to set up a 3 kW plant, then 40% subsidy will be available on an additional 1 kW plant.
It will cost about 1.45 lakh rupees to set up a 3 kW plant. Out of that, the government will give a subsidy of 78 thousand rupees. The government has made arrangements for cheap bank loans for the remaining Rs 67,000. Banks will be able to charge only 0.5% more interest than repo rate.
What to do to set up a solar plant?
Government for the scheme National portal Has launched To get it installed, you can apply by visiting the consumer portal. Here you have to fill your consumer number, name, address and how much capacity plant will have to be filled.
DISCOM companies will verify these details and process the process. There are many vendors already registered on the portal which install solar panels. You can choose any vendor according to your own. Discom will install net metering after the panel is installed.

How to get subsidy after setting up solar plant?
When the solar plant is set up and the discom is installed by the net metering, its proof and the certificate will be uploaded on the portal. After this, the government will transfer the entire amount of subsidy under DBT to the consumer account.
Will 300 units of electricity be free in this scheme?
The 1 kw solar plant produces about 4-5 units of electricity daily. In such a situation, if you set up a 3 kW plant, then about 15 units of electricity will be created daily. That is, 450 units a month.
You can use this electricity. The remaining power will go back through net metering and you will also get this electricity money. The government says that you can earn about 15,000 rupees in a year with this electricity.
